This one day course is designed for those on site who have responsibility for supervising temporary works. The course will provide candidates with a thorough knowledge of the role of a Temporary Works Supervisor.
This course is designed to suit employees of civil engineering and building contractors as well as specialist contractors such as utilities. It is aimed at all those site staff who wish to be considered for appointment as Temporary Works Supervisors. It is also eminently suitable for experienced and competent foremen wishing to become more formally recognised as TWS’s.
This course is designed to give confidence to senior management that they are providing the training required for employees as part of their competency requirements in the role of TWS.
The course is based on Section 2 of BS5975:2008 +A1:2011. Detailed, well-illustrated course literature will be provided.
This is not a temporary works awareness course.
Examination
CHC reserve the right to offer a re-sit of the examination should a candidate achieve only 16 or 17 correct answers. A charge will be made for examination re-sits.
Examination
- Understand the need for, duties and site role of a TWS. The limitations of the role of TWS.
- Understand the importance of managing risks, working safely and inspecting temporary works
- Understand the role of others involved in the process (in particular the TWC).
- Have an understanding of the procedural requirements given in section Two of BS 5975.
- Appreciate the risk associated with different types of temporary works.
- Understand some of the technical issues and “what to look out for” with common elements of temporary works.
- Importance of communication, coordination, cooperation and competency
